A word of caution: The stories stick to the Biblical accounts rather loosely. That may not be a bad thing if the reader has a Bible close by and decides to do more reading. Having each character described as a girl also threw me in places. For instance, the woman at the well is described as “The Thirsty Girl” – a woman who had five husbands and was living with a man at the time of her encounter with Jesus. In this book, she is simply ‘searching for love.’
I realize that in a children’s book, certain details may be glossed over, and if an adult reads to a child, this book presents opportunities to delve further into Scripture together. The Love Letters from God are under flaps in the print books and are sweet reminders of the love that each character feels, although I felt in some letters, the author took liberties in speaking as God.
Overall, I can recommend this book as a springboard for more discussion about the girls and women in the Bible.

. The main character, "Andi," is a spitfire of a girl. Her adventurous and sometimes mischievous ways bring unexpected twists and turns in the story. 
a couple of years ago. We were both attending a writers' conference and without ever having met me in person, Jill offered to pick me up at the airport. It is with that kind of generous spirit that Jill and Diana Ennen wrote their excellent guide to starting a home-based business. 
, I was instantly drawn into the setting, learned new words and phrases, and enjoyed getting to know the characters. As I continued to read, I felt as if I had traveled through time. Linore's attention to detail is wonderful, and the glossary in the back helped me understand some of the terms used in the realistic dialogue. Reading an omniscient point-of-view was a refreshing change of pace. 
as a cookbook anyway. It's more like a comedy book with a few recipes thrown in. They give their take on food, fairs, and festivals and live to eat, rather than eat to live. These guys love food. Most of the recipes are easily made with a few readily available ingredients. I didn't see one call for fancy mushrooms (canned will do) or fancy cheeses. A couple recipes even call for plain ol' American cheese.
, Mary E. DeMuth movingly shares how she has lived through hurts, disappointments, and violations, and yet still manages to see how God worked in and through all these events to bring her into a deeper, closer relationship with Him. Mary's ultimate realization that she lives in the midst of holy moments seen more clearly in retrospect helps us as readers see that God is always working in our lives, too. 
(Andi) and how trust and teamwork work together. Young readers will absorb the customs of the 1880's, new terms, and laugh at Andi's antics, all the while learning the importance of strong family ties and the value of friendship. Andi's Christian faith remains strong in the face of adversity, but author Susan Marlow never preaches at her readers. Fun book! I recommend it along with the
